Makro celebrates 53 years with Rio Carnival competition

| News

As Makro celebrated 53 years of bringing value to South African consumers, it has launched one of its most exciting competitions yet – a trip for 2 to the annual Rio Carnival in Brazil. Not only is this a once-in-a-lifetime prize, but the entry mechanic is as easy as spending R1000 at Makro, in-store or online, during the month of August.

The retailer’s July consumer research found that shoppers are beating shrinkflation by shopping Makro’s bulk and bundle deals on essentials and snacks, with most customers getting 20 or more items for R1000.

“Makro has been celebrated for offering South Africa’s cheapest grocery basket for over a year now, through independent research. We are committed to offering our customers the best possible value for their money when they shop at Makro for their monthly groceries and household essentials,” says Katherine Madley, Vice President of Group Marketing at Massmart. “Partnering with South Africans for over 53 years has shown where we can help most for shoppers who are seeking value and convenience now more than ever.”

Two lucky Makro shoppers will win a trip for two to Brazil’s annual Rio Carnival, which promises to delight travellers with spectacular dancing, food and world-famous sights.

“We really wanted to give back to our customers in a meaningful, exciting way for our birthday this year. South Africans are facing challenging economic conditions, which means, for many, the luxury of travel feels inaccessible. This prize is truly incredible and the entry mechanic could not be simpler!”.

The competition is running until 25 August.
