Checkers Sixty60 wins at MTN Business App of the Year Awards

| On the move

The Checkers Sixty60 app is the winner of the People’s Choice Award and the Best Enterprise Solution at the 2020 MTN Business App of the Year Awards.

South Africa’s first 60-minute grocery delivery service from a supermarket chain launched in November 2019 and in less than 12 months Sixty60 has become a household name thanks to its unrivaled convenience and speed of delivery.

The Covid-19 pandemic heightened the demand for online grocery shopping and order volumes skyrocketed during lockdown. To meet the increased demand for this service, Checkers rapidly expanded Sixty60 throughout the country, and has to date created over 1 000 new jobs. The Sixty60 service is currently available in over 100 stores and will be further extended to over 150 by year-end.

Commenting on the win, Neil Schreuder, Chief of Strategy and Innovation for the Shoprite Group, said: “We set out to disrupt online shopping with a hyper convenient and seamless customer experience. To be recognised as the Best Enterprise Solution as well as the People’s Choice in our first year of operation is testimony to our team’s commitment to provide customers with the best possible online shopping experience.”

With more than 800 000 app downloads, some of Sixty60’s key features include real-time order tracking, curated ‘shopping missions’ and personalised product recommendations.
