SA Olive Awards: Looking for liquid gold

Entries have opened for the 2016 SA Olive Awards and SA Olive invites producers to submit their finest, freshly harvested extra-virgin olive oils for this year’s competition by 29 July 2016.

The prestigious competition, now in its 11th year, gives recognition to locally produced extra-virgin olive oils. Annually close to 100 entries battle it out for the top accolades.

A panel of internationally accredited olive oil tasters will rate entries during a rigorous four-day blind-tasting session from 16 to 19 August. Olive oils entered in each of the three categories – delicate, medium and intense – are scrutinised one by one according to quality, complexity and balance in terms of aroma and taste.

The winners will be announced on 1 September.

Entry forms are available online at www.saolive.co.za. For more information, contact Surita van der Westhuyzen on 021 863 1599 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
